Visit the Galle Dutch Fort

Walk the paved streets of the centuries old Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for some retail therapy, historic architecture and wayside café culture.  Pop into the quaint shops in the nooks and crannies of the winding streets, stop by for a gelato on a warm afternoon or a spicy snack from a street vendor passing by, feast on the pretty impressive legacy of Dutch architecture, step in for some quiet time at the Groote Kerk and reading the names and dates on gravestones from a time gone by, meander along the Galle ramparts and take a peek at the centuries old clock tower, while down below a dungeon beckons.  Plunging from that famed rock on the ramparts into the Indian Ocean is not for the faint hearted.
