Kanneliya Forest Tour

Visit Kanneliya Rain Forest

Take a walk in the last remaining rainforests in Sri Lanka, the UNESCO biosphere of Kanneliya and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sinharaja. Experience the sheer abandon of walking in a tropical rainforest, marveling at the rich biodiversity found almost nowhere else in the world.  Kanneliya is the second largest primary forest area in Sri Lanka located between two rivers and is home to over 100 species of bird, 16 of which are endemic and 15 endemic freshwater fish in addition to reptiles, amphibians and butterflies.  Sinharaja, was the first natural site to be added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1988 and is the last viable remnant of tropical rainforest surrounded by rivers on three sides.  It is home to over 50% of Sri Lanka’s endemic species of mammals, butterflies, insects, reptiles and amphibians.
