Ruhunu National Park Tour

Going wild

The largest wildlife sanctuary in the island, gaze at a cohort of beautiful beings in their natural habitat including the majestic elephant, resplendent leopard and illusive sloth bear. Get up close and personal with 44 varieties of mammal and 215 species of bird.  Traverse the nearly 130,000 hectares of the Yala Wildlife Park encompassing light forest, scrub, grassland, tanks and lagoons, hiding an ancient agri-based civilization vestiges of which are yet seen in dilapidated tanks and reservoirs. Ironically, the park used as a hunting ground during British rule, now houses the world’s biggest concentration of leopard, elephant sloth bear, sambar, jackal, spotted dear, peacock and crocodile.
